The 2020 edition of the summer school has been rescheduled: it will be held from June 22nd to June 25th. The new format includes four afternoon sessions held fully online, to allow the participants who will be connecting from a different time zone to participate at an appropriate time.

The sessions will be held on Microsoft Teams, the platform that the University of Bologna has adopted for all its learning activities. The students, faculty members, and staff will be given full access to the platform’s functionalities.

The program has been completely revised: all the activities (lectures and other synchronous meetings) will be held during live sessions in order to ensure everybody’s interaction. Also the timetable has been specifically shortened to achieve the appropriate remote sustainability. The lectures will be accordingly rearranged to favor interaction and active participation.

The high internationalization of the program is confirmed, in terms of both faculty and applicants. Like in past editions, this year the course relies on the contributions of national and foreign guests, in addition to the founding partners and a selection of researchers and professors from the University of Bologna.

Each year it is customary to offer all the students the opportunity to present their research and discuss their work with faculty and peers. In order to adapt this tradition to the new online environment, this year we asked the students to share their research through short poster presentations. The academia is gradually moving towards shorter and more direct ways to communicate its research findings, not only to other colleagues involved in scholarly environments but also to the wider public, and posters are powerful tools to make this information accessible.
